Transport Engineer - Trunking

• Will be responsible for ordering circuits from cradle to grave, to include, but not limited to, cell site EVDO Carrier Add, Ethernet Backhaul (EBH), LTE and new build Cell sites.
• Must be comfortable and skilled in the entire process from selecting vendors to reviewing contracts to cutting purchase orders.
• Will be responsible for creating ASR’s for trunking, T1's, T3's, OC level circuits and Ethernet service.
• Have experience coordinating/Tracking circuit delivery with technicians, engineers, other team members and vendors, and issuing change orders / disconnects circuits, as needed. This includes maintaining accurate project lists and trackers and staying in sync with cell site build and modification priorities. Provide weekly reporting on Transport project status.
• There will be a lot of communications with Vendors on a daily basis.
• Must be willing to attend conference calls with internal groups and external vendors.
• Have in-depth working experience with transport network facilities design including:
• DS1, DS3, OC level circuits and Ethernet circui
• Inter-machine trunks (IMT)
• Wireless to wireless transport systems
• E911 trunks to the new PSAPs for phase 0
• Provision spans using ASRs for new build cell sites and growth for existing trunk groups i.e. 2A, 2B, LD etc.
• Database circuits in Xng which includes databasing the NIUs, Segments, Paths, VLANs and CSRs

Requirements:

• Must have strong skills and experience with trunking.
• Experience with Granite/Xng System. For Ethernet circuits, candidate must be able to build the CSRs, VLANs and create the 1Gbps Path.
• Strong knowledge of LEC & ILEC telephony networks and practices.
• Tracking the progress of the network build from a facilities standpoint, delivery of network transport facilities and the turn up of the facilities on the network.
• Troubleshooting skills in response to outages, design issues, network flaws, etc.
• You must have working experience with QORA/CORA (Qwest/Century Link Online Request Application) and be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
